The building of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre began in early 1990 and involved the pouring of 36,480 tonnes of concrete. It was the largest concrete pour in South Australia at the time.
The Three Gorges Dam in China, in a single project, set the world record for the largest concrete pour. 16 million cubic meters of concrete over 17 years, was used in the construction of the dam.
During the construction of the Parbati Hydroelectric Project in India, on the 7th of August 2009, the world record for concrete pumping was set. The concrete mix was pumped from a height of 715 metres.
